The Festival was started in 1993 on a Sunday in mid February, a summer outdoor Festival to encourage Country Music members from Lower Mataura, Gore and Balclutha Country Music Clubs to get out there and entertain the public. The inclusion of Guest Artists at the beautiful setting of Dolamore Park on the outskirts of Gore was an added bonus to bring in the crowds.
The Festival has included some very well known Country Music Entertainers, a real mixture of both New Zealand and Australian Artists over the years. To name a few: Australian's Craig Giles; Wayne Horsburgh; Corrina Caldwell; Craig Byrne; and New Zealanders; Sitiri Temple; The Pioneer Pog'N' Scroggin Bush Band; Barross Country Duo; New Zealand Army Band; Trevor Dawe; The Topp Twins and many many more great guest artists.
Three years ago the Festival was extended to two days to make a full weekend of great entertainment.
